Milestone Receives Permit for Stanton Landfill

HOUSTON and MIDLAND, Texas – October 12, 2023 – Milestone Environmental Services, LLC (“Milestone”), a leading environmental services and carbon management company and the largest energy waste sequestration company in the United States, today announced that on August 22, 2023, the Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC) approved the company’s third RCRA-exempt energy waste landfill permit in the Permian Basin. Development plans for the nearly 12.4 million cubic yard landfill are underway.

Co-located with Milestone’s existing slurry injection facility located 10 miles south of Stanton, the 78-acre Stanton Landfill will serve customers in the heart of the Midland Basin. The landfill will accept drill cuttings, contaminated soil, cement, gels, and other non-hazardous energy waste solids. Once the landfill is constructed, the facility will be able to accept all energy waste streams, providing customers a full-service energy waste management solution.

“Energy demand continues to surge in the U.S., setting new records for Texas crude production, most notably in the Permian Basin,” said Milestone Executive Vice President of Energy Waste, Richard Leaper. “Approval of this landfill permit paves the way for Milestone to better serve the growing needs of our customers in this area by providing a cost-effective and environmentally responsible solution for their solid waste management needs.”

The Stanton landfill permit enhances Milestone’s existing network of energy waste disposal facilities and supports the Company’s plans to operate the most comprehensive network of waste management facilities in the Permian Basin.
